New Togs For The Blog

I found this WordPress blog template that had been modified for Blogger, and was inclined to try it out. It looks nice, which is really the only point of it all. Aditi also decided she wanted to use the layout for her WP blog, and so we have identical layouts. Except more people read her blog than this one.

We Will Never Screw This Friendship!

Yesterday was International Friendship Day, it appears. Now, I'm the kind who thinks that friends, mothers, fathers, teachers, secretaries and significant others usually transcend the one day that Hallmark and Archie's have designated for them. So, unmindful of such occasions, I find myself at the Costa Coffee in Juhu along with three fellow quizzers: Amit Varma, Aadisht Khanna and Anannya Deb, where, along with coffee, one samples the local newspapers which, bless their souls, carry such wonders as this:
Now, we're no experts in Indic transliteration, but we did agree on one thing: The 'छ' in Hindi is usually written as 'chh'. One wouldn't think this is too much of a difference, but remember that the 'd' in this word can be both 'द' and 'ड'.You can see where I'm going with this. Instead of refusing to let go of their friendship, it appears that Abhishek Bachchan and Goldie Behl have decided to never fuck it up. Not that the latter sentiment is a bad one, but surely the Bombay Times wouldn't want kids to ask their fathers at breakfast, "Daddy, what does 'चोदेंगे' mean?"

Hilarious! BTW, for some reason, some of the words in the blog post appear as question-marks.

Thanks for sharing this nugget with those of us who dont live in mumbai. (fwiw, found your blog post via Amit Varma's "India Uncut" blog)

One of the treasures in my music collection is a 45-RPM single (anyone remember those?) - as loved for the song as for it's cover sleeve that pleads boldly: Abhi na jao chod kar (ke dil abhi bhara nahin).
