First the CPI and its idiots do their best to justify China's brutal treatment of Tibetan protesters, and then they try to dodge the subject. And just like a cherry atop the sundae, you have the government displaying its castration scars to the world. Not that one should expect anything better from this bunch anymore. Everything they have done, from tormenting Taslima Nasreen into running away from India, to chronic disregard of consistent abuse of eminent domain law, shameless pandering to electorates through large-scale loan waivers, has indicated that the UPA government lacks any form of conviction whatsoever. They have consistently demonstrated an ostrich-like reaction to crises, and allowed themselves to be routinely bullied by their coalition 'allies', the Communist Party of Idiots.
Most of that pales in comparison to Pranab Mukherjee's pronouncement that the Dalai Lama
"should not do any political activity that can adversely affect the relations between India and China"Now, considering that the Great Ocean of Wisdom has been fighting a political battle that, at its core, is one of international borders pertaining to India and China, this is tantamount to asking the Tibetan leaders to STFU.
It is time the UPA woke up to one of the most fundamental truths about Indo-China political relations: they are adversarial. That there has already been one battle between these nations, and that the disputes underlying said battle are as yet unresolved should be sufficient indication that the two countries are not ever going to be bhai-bhai. It's not a bad thing to condemn the Chinese for actions that are contrary to the values that India stands for; if anything, it will serve ample notice of our conviction that these values are worth fighting for.
It is time we put Nehru & Co.'s absurd polity to bed and got on with the realities of living with the Big Red Monster up north.
